So close….

Graduation is December 15th.  THIS YEAR!  Not next year….not in two years….not even one more semester.  I am graduating THIS DECEMBER!!  I can hardly believe it.  It has been a long ride and I will finally have a bachelor’s :)

My family and Kelly’s family are all coming up to see it for themselves…hahahaha.  No seriously..they are coming to see Meredith.  Me graduating is just a bonus :)

Only 2 and a half more weeks of classes left…WOOOHOOO.

That’s all I have to say about that.

Happy Turkey Day!

Nice weekend!

Well, this has been a nice and lazy weekend so far.  No one is sick, no real homework to stress over, only a house that needs cleaning….but I will get to it when I get to it.  HAHAHAHA.  I had a busy, stressful week and Kelly understands that I needed to rest today.

I am sore.  I have muscles in my legs and arms that I didn’t know I had!  All from work…believe it or not.  Open enrollment is starting next week (for about 3000 employees – mind you) so I was moving boxes of papers around and stuffing insurance information into packages, etc.  BLAH BLAH BLAH.  We are going to have an assembly line at work Monday!  I better wear comfortable shoes…lol.

Then, the swarm of paperwork will start flooding our office and I will probably end up with carpal tunnel.  :)

OK, enough complaining.  After a nice lazy day…we went to a new Japanese buffet.  It was pretty good!  Expensive…but good.

Tomorrow Kelly is going to play some pool at Purdue’s house and I am going to attempt to do some cleaning and try and finish a swap or two.  I am late on my swaps…shame on me.

Ok….gonna go to bed now.

Night night.

Well, after our exciting visit from my mom and dad…Victoria took a turn for the worse.  She has been sick a little last Thursday and Friday but was doing much better over the weekend until Sunday evening that is.  Fever – 103.  Coughing like crazy and said her chest was hurting.  I took her to the doctor Monday and she had a breathing treatment and the doctor said it was bronchitis with a touch of something viral.  She gave us meds and said if she doesn’t improve during the week to bring her back.

Thursday morning Kelly took her back to the doctor and to my suprise…I got a phone call later that day while I was sitting waiting for my class to start.  It was Kelly calling from the doctors office.  They wanted to admit her to Children’s hospital for PNEUMONIA!  Poor thing…

Her teacher had called to check on her Tuesday evening and she did tell Kelly that there were 3 others out sick with bronchitis and had turned into Pneumonia also!  Well…guess that is where she got it from.  So, she has been in the hospital since yesterday afternoon.  Hopefully she will get to come home tomorrow….depends on how she does in the night I guess.  Here fever was not completely gone and she is still coughing a lot but I can tell it is all breaking up in her chest….yucky.  AND, of course it is a highly contagious form of Pneumonia.  Microplasmic Pneumonia is what they called it.

The, today at Meredith’s 2 year well check up, her white blood count was high and the doc took one look at her green snot coming out of her nose…she said “We are putting her on antibiotics”  Just in case…she has been exposed to this all week long…well, we all have.  Hopefully none of us will get sick.  I am going to my doc Monday morning just in case there is anything I can do to prevent this.  I wish Kelly would go see a doctor.  He has been with her 24/7 since the hospital.

Well, I guess all we can do is pray for the best.

What a suprise!!!

Meredith’s birthday party is tomorrow.  Kelly stayed home from work today to help me get the house clean…that was really nice of him!  All during the week, I had a sneaking suspicion that my parents were gonna popo up and surprise us, well….me mainly.  I could tell Kelly knew something.  I even asked him the other day if my parents were planning on surprising me and he made the weirdest smile and laughed and said….”Why in the world would I know?”  I knew right there that something was up.  Then today was even more of a hint.  I came home from picking up Meredith at daycare and brought some supper home.  The phone rings as I am walking in and Kelly answered it.  He starts to tell me it is for me but quickly changes his mind.  (hmmmm??)  Then I ask who it is and he said “no one, mind your own business”  LOL  I kept asking him who it was and kept saying I know it is my mom and they are coming up here.  So he hangs up and I dial *69 to find out the number…hahahahahaha.  It was my brother’s cell #.  So a little while later I called and he answers and said mom and dad went out to eat.  (yeah right)  A little while later, I am folding clothes and all of a sudden Victoria says, “Janna, the door”  I knew it was them and sure enough….there they were!  Dad took a picture of me as soon as I opened the door because he wanted to see me surprised!  HAHAHA

I am sooo happy they are here :)

Tomorrow is casual dress day at work…YAY.  Jeans and tennis shoes, here I come!  This weekend will bring a little bit of release for me.  I do have lots of cleaning to do though.  Meredith’s birthday party is next weekend so I need to try and get ready.  I also have studying and research to do (yuck) and have about 5 swaps to complete by the 15 or 18th.  So, I will be a busy little bee (as usual).

The Office

Have you ever watched The Office?  It comes on Thursday nights at the same time that my all time fav comes on – Grey’s Anatomy.  So, unfortunately, I don’t watch it.  However….it started coming on TBS on Tuesday nights.  I finally watched it for the 1st time the other day.  It is HILARIOUS.  Some of it is a little unbelievable….well, ok – a lot of it.  LOL  I have a hard time believing that any employee would put up with a manager like Michael Scott and his sexual enuendos (is that the right word?) among other things I won’t get into here.  Regardless….it is funny and is now my favorite comedy to watch on tv :)   I guess it might even be funnier to people who work in offices….I dunno.  I do work in an office so I can relate to alot of it and I am in HR – that makes this show all the funnier!!

ANOTHER ER trip…..

Well, back to the ER we went.  After our Thursday trip…she seemed to be doing much better.  Still running fever off and on.  She finally “went” Friday.  She had a hard one then a really runny one!  (TMI, yeah I know…get over it.  LOL)  SO, here I am thinking the worst is over and she is on the road to feeling normal again.  WRONG!  Saturday morning she seemed fine when she woke up.  She drank and ate a little…not very much.  I kept trying to get her to drink all day.  She kind of just stopped drinking.  She woke up from her nap crying and squeezing her stomach like she was Wednesday night before out 1st ER trip.  Except this time it was worse…it was constant…and she was getting dehydrated.  I tried giving her water by dripping it from a straw.  SO, around 7 pm, I called our pedi and then we headed to the hospital again.  YEP, she was dehydrated.  I could tell because her lips were so dry.  But…she did have 2 wet diapers earlier that day so it really can be hard to tell if they are getting dehydrated or not!  The only classic signs she really showed was refusing to drink anything and dry lips.  So, the doc wants to do blood and urine tests.  They tried to take blood from her little arm but it just wasn’t working so they had to do it in her hand.  Poor little baby!  I felt so sorry and so helpless watching her lay there in pain.  She cried but didn’t try to squirm that much.  She felt so bad and she had a fever of 102.8.  The nurses kept saying how amazed they were and that she really must feel bad because she is not giving them any troubles.  Well, DUH…of course she feels bad.  Anyway, they get blood and get an IV started.  She layed there in the bed…head propped up.  We sat and watched Cars and ate ice chips.  Then about 5 minutes into the IV she started freaking out on me.  She wanted to get up and she was trying to take the IV thing out.  So, she finally calmed down and started talking to me and wanted to sit up and play a little.  She was feeling much better already!

Then the catheter came….I guess that is how you spell it.  They needed a urine sample and that wasn’t too fun for her.  It was over quickly though.  So, we waited some more and then the doc came back in and examined her belly.  It was nice and soft and she didn’t think anything other than constipation that was causing the cramping.  OH, she did mention a possible urinary tract infection but that was ruled out when the urine came back ok.  Her blood count was a little high.  She said that is jjust from whatever virus she has.  SO, viral and constipation are what we came home with.  Her fever seemed to break almost instantly after giving her some tylenol while at the hospital.  So, that is good.  Hopefully the worst is over.  She is playing with big sis right now and she did have some milk and half of a biscuit this morning.  I sure hope we don’t have to go back to the ER today.  She has been through so much in the past few days.  We get to go follow up with her pedi Monday.

Today is my bday.  No one has wished me Happy Bday yet.  I am betting on my hubby forgetting.  LOL

to the ER at the Children’s Hospital.  Poor Mer Mer ):

Well, before anyone says I am paranoid…let me just tell you before I get into the story that she was running a low grade fever all night and she had blue poop last night!  Seriously!  If it weren’t for those 2 things…I probably would have just passed this off as really bad constipation/gas.  Which is what it is…but I wanted an x-ray to be on the safe side.  She was up and crying all night (which is unusual) and shaky/trembling, passing gas, feverish, and not wanting to drink anything.  SO, about the 4th round of this…Kelly started to worry.  When he starts to worry, its time to see a doc…lol.  He doesn’t worry like I do :)   So, I send emails to my professors, get dressed, and get the babys bag ready.  Kelly stayed behind to get Victoria up and ready for school.  We got to the hospital around 6:30 am.

We were seen almost immediately which was pretty nice.  I hate waiting in ER rooms.  So, the doc examines her and I tell him about all that has happened and he orders an X-Ray to see if there is any blockage.  There wasn’t…thank goodness.  But she had to have eaten something for her poop to be so blue.  They were all playing with markers when I picked her up from daycare yesterday.  Who knows what she ate.  She got more marker on her clothes than anywhere else.  Thank goodness they are washables!

So, final diagnosis….constipation.  Doc prescribed some fiber stuff to put in her drink for a couple of weeks to help regulate her.  He said cut back on the cheese (duh) She does loooove cheese but I won’t give it to her everyday.  So, in a couple of hours, I will load her back up in the car and drive to Walgreens to get the prescription.  This Walgreen’s is so slow on getting scrips done.  Always something to complain about…lol.

She is ok for the moment.  I imagine that when she actually does “poo poo” she will be kicking and screaming.  Her hiney hurts from having her temp taken twice in the ER and the doc sticking his finger in there…poor Mer Mer.

I have to go to a stupid group meeting tonight at 6pm.   AHHHHH.  I hate school.

My very first blog!

Hi everyone!  I am new to blogging.  I have tried it a couple of times on myspace and here and there but never really kept up with it.  I am DEVOTED to keeping up with this as much as possible.  What a great way to let off some steam!  I hope I will get better as I go….I sometimes tend to ramble on and on about things that mean absolutely nothing so I hope I don’t bore you to death.

I am home sick today.  I called into work.  SO, I figured I would take this time to start a blog.  Although….I SHOULD be doing homework.  Oh, I’ll get to that later.

So, it’s football season.  I go to UT and football weekends are always insane around here.  I wish I were back in LA so I could go to some LSU football games….GEAUX TIGERS!  I don’t really follow college football except for LSU and UT.  Neither does my husband, Kelly.  We both like NFL (him more than me) and one of our favorite teams is the NO Saints, even though they suck right now.  You gotta love dem Saints though!

I guess I should introduce my family a little.  I’m Janna, 35 (soon to be 36th on the 16th of September) and been married to Kelly (36) since tax day – April 15th, 2005.  Yeah, we got married after I found out I was preggo.  But, to my defense…we were already engaged so ppppffftttthhhhhh.  (hehe)

I have a baby girl, Meredith, who will be 2 on October 18th.  I can’t believe it has been almost 2 years since I held that small, wrinkly and cute little thing!  She is the absolute joy of my life and I can’t imagine not having her around!  She is at daycare right now….we call it “school”  :)   She enjoys going for the most part.  She whines a little and cries “Nonny” (her version of Mommy) when we get there but then she is fine.

My husbands 9 year old daughter, Victoria, also lives with us.  She will be 10 in January and is in 3rd grade.  We have been having some troubles with her in school and at home…not paying attention, not following directions, not doing what she is told, not being responsible, etc…. So, she has been grounded for a while and has continued to be grounded since she is not showing any signs of improvement or concern of what is going on.  She actually seems to be getting worse.  Anyway, we are dealing with that now and trying to get things resolved.

I am graduating in December!!  FINALLY!!  After what…..um, 18 years of off and on college, I am finally graduating!  Better late than never, I suppose :)   I am graduating with almost 200 college credit hours…LMAO!  Let’s see, I attended Louisiana State University for 2 years, McNeese State University for hmmm….(thinking)……probably 4 years total.  Was spread out over several years.  And I last attended and am attending right now….The University of Tennessee!  Been there for a total of 3 and a half years.  DANG, I could have been a doctor by now with all the college I have had!  Oh well, at least I am finishing.  I am graduating in Human Resource Development and am going to take the PHR after I graduate.  (That is a whoooole other post, lol)
